The kids were there on time eager to learn more.
This week we focused more on adorable mammals. Some real and some fictional.
We started off with the pre-read. I asked the kids to re-tell whatever they had learnt in the previous sessions.
We moved on to read about interesting kangaroo facts. One kid asked a question, “Why don’t joey’s fall out of the Mama’s pouch?”, Cute!
I told them about the world’s most beloved bear, Winnie the Pooh, and about its creator A.A. Milne. And how Milne used fictional names to tell real stories. I asked the kids to write a fictional story and bring it next week, the story had to be inspired by their favorite toys.
The worksheet this week was fun – the kids composed riddles, themselves! Some really humorous ones!
We also read about the friendly mammals that swim like a fish.
Finally, we ran a short reading session on the stories of Nobel peace prize winners Malala Yousafzai and Kailash Satyarthi. I hope their stories inspires the kids and tells them that courage does make an ordinary person extraordinary!
